Fire Sprinkler System Installation Standards: Major Changes in the 2013 Editions of NFPA 13, 13R and 13D
NFPA Standards for the installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems have undergone significant changes as a result of the latest code revision cycle. These standards play a critical role in establishing requirements for the design and installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems in commercial and institutional buildings as well as residential occupancies. This webinar will focus on major changes in the 2013 editions of NFPA 13: Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems; NFPA 13R: Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in Low-Rise Residential Occupancies; and NFPA 13D: Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes.
What you’ll learn:
- How both new and revised definitions will impact design approaches and inspection, testing and maintenance requirements
- Which systems and components have new requirements and/or applications
- What materials and products used in sprinkler systems must now be carefully tested and evaluated
- Which design considerations will be more restrictive and which will be less restrictive
- How storage protection is becoming more specialized and what testing criteria must be met

NFPA 25: Requirements for Less Frequently Performed Fire Sprinkler System Inspections and Tests
A significant portion of NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, focuses on essential inspection and testing that must be performed on a quarterly or yearly basis. NFPA 25 also prescribes numerous inspections and tests that are required only every 3 years, every 5 years, or with even longer intervals in between. While sometimes overlooked, these longer-interval inspections and tests are vitally important to the proper maintenance and operation of water-based fire protection systems. This webinar addresses the requirements for less frequently performed inspections and tests, which can undercover serious deficiencies such as piping obstructions or inadequate water flows.
